Budapest Conference: Join the experiences!

As part of the upcoming IAIE conference in Budapest in June, the organizers are pleased to offer four professional, cultural and social program options that conference participants will be able to sign up for through the website later in March. 

Please note the following important information:

  • Some programs have limited capacity and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis;
  • You will receive confirmation of your place by the end of April;
  • Upon receiving confirmation, please transfer the applicable fee to IAIE to secure your place. (Payment details will be included in your confirmation letter).

School visit

A 2-hour visit to a school in Budapest in the morning of June 11 (for a maximum of 25 people).

A visit to an alternative, learner-centered, inclusive and democratic secondary school. Lesson observations and discussion with staff from 10 to 12 on Wednesday June 11 (The school is half an hour away from the conference venue by public transport)

Budapest sightseeing

A 2-hour walking tour of Budapest with a professional tour guide and quietvox headsets from 5pm to 7pm on June 10 or from 5pm to 7pm on June 12 (for a maximum of 25 people each time).

Thematic Roma sightseeing (Uccu Foundation)

A 2-hour walk in the 8th district with a professional guide from 5pm to 7pm on June 12 (for a maximum of 25 people).

Price: €13/person

Music and wine

A performance by our teachers' choir (free) and some snacks and wine tasting after the closing session of the conference on June 13.

Szentesi Winery will come to the location of our conference with special offers on Friday June 13 (from 4 pm). József Szentesi is a rediscoverer of old Hungarian varieties of wines and an advocate of non-interventionist winemaking. He is a recipient of the Hungarian Winemaker of the Winemakers Award. Price: about €25/person for the wine tasting and snacks.

Trip to picturesque Szentendre

A visit to a colorful little town by suburban train together with some of the Hungarian co-chairs of the strands on Saturday June 14. 

Meetup: 10:00 by the suburban train on Batthyány Square on the red metro line. You can be back in Budapest by 2pm but you can also stay longer in Szentendre if you wish.


Price: roundtrip suburban train ticket - paid on the spot (about €4/ person).
